The Division of Mineral Resources Management’s oil and gas programs were incorporated into the Ohio Department of Natural Resources in 1965 to regulate drilling and production from Ohio’s oil and gas resources.
Currently, the Division’s responsibilities include regulation of Ohio’s:
(1) Oil and gas drilling operations
(2) Oil and gas production operations
(3) Brine disposal operations
(4) Solution mining operations
(5) Underground injection operations.
The Division inspects the drilling, restoration, and plugging of all oil and gas wells in the state. They also issue permits for all oil and gas, injection and solution mining wells.

Ohio Oil and Gas Association
OOGA is a trade association representing over 3,000 members involved in all aspects of the exploration, production and development of crude oil and natural gas resources in the state of Ohio. The association forms a strong vehicle for advocacy, education, and professional networking for the oil and gas industry in Ohio.
